Description

The 47mm SA mle 1937 was a French anti-tank gun that was considered one of the best of its kind in the early years of World War II. “SA” in its designation stood for semi-automatique (semi-automatic), referring to its quick-reloading breech mechanism. Developed by the state-owned Arsenal de Puteaux, the gun was a significant upgrade from the earlier 25mm anti-tank guns and was designed to combat the increasingly armored tanks of the period.

Although the gun was an excellent weapon, it was not produced in sufficient numbers to make a decisive impact on the Battle of France. Only about 1,200 were in service by May 1940. It was primarily used by divisional anti-tank gun batteries and was often towed by light trucks.

Set consists of 15 fine metal 1:600th/3mm scale miniatures.
