Description
The 57mm M1 anti-tank gun was the American version of the British 6-pounder anti-tank gun, a weapon that was widely used by Allied forces during World War II. The M1 was adopted by the U.S. Army after experiences in North Africa demonstrated that the smaller 37mm anti-tank guns were ineffective against German armor.
Produced from 1942 to 1945, the M1 gun was a significant improvement in anti-tank capability for the U.S. infantry. While initially considered too heavy by some units, it became the standard anti-tank gun by mid-1944. It could fire a variety of ammunition, including armor-piercing rounds, and was often towed by vehicles like the Dodge WC series trucks.
Set consists of 15 fine metal 1:600th/3mm scale miniatures.
