Description
The AEC armoured car Mk.I was a British heavy armored car used during World War II. It was the first of the AEC armoured cars to be produced. Its design was based on the chassis of the Matador artillery tractor and it was originally intended to be a heavy tank destroyer. The car was equipped with a turret mounting a 2-pounder (40 mm) anti-tank gun and a 7.92 mm Besa machine gun. It had a crew of three and was well-armored for its class, with armor plates up to 57 mm thick on the hull and turret front.
The production of the Mk.I began in 1942, and it saw service in North Africa and Italy. Due to its robust design and heavy armament, it proved to be a reliable and effective vehicle on the battlefield. It was later succeeded by the Mk.II and Mk.III variants, which featured more powerful guns.
Set consists of 15 fine metal 1:600th/3mm scale miniatures.
