Description
The Stuart Recce was a field modification of the American M3 and M5 series of light tanks, commonly known as the “Stuart.” This improvisation was developed by British and Commonwealth forces who realized that the tank’s 37 mm gun and light armor were becoming increasingly obsolete in direct combat against German tanks in the later stages of World War II.
To adapt the vehicle to a more suitable role, the turret was removed entirely from the tank chassis. This reduced the overall weight, which in turn improved the vehicle’s speed and operational range, making it ideal for reconnaissance missions. The newly-available space was often used for additional equipment, ammunition, and sometimes an extra machine gun mount.
Set consists of 15 fine metal 1:600th/3mm scale miniatures.
